CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

Parent Tot Classes (ages 18 months - 2.5 years):

This class is all about parent involvement to really bond with younger children and create a joy for movement and dance. Parents and children will play movement and music based games and interact with each other in an organized group fashion. 

  • Girls Attire: Athletic clothing and socks. Hair should be secured away from face with rubber band or clip.

  • Boys Attire: Athletic clothing and socks.

​Creative Movement (ages 2.5 to 4):

This class is designed for our younger students who are just starting to explore the world of dance and movement. Song and dance provide our tiny aspiring dancers with development in coordination, listening skills and musicality while engaging their imagination. These tiny students should be ready to attend this class on their own with parental supervision available in the lobby if needed. Students must also be potty trained for this class. We work with the parents to make students comfortable with this new learning environment.  In this class, dancers engage in sing-song and dance with the use of music and props to nurture imaginations.

  • Girls Attire: Solid colored leotard, pink tights, pink leather ballet shoes. Short dance skirts/tutus are optional. Hair should be secured away from face with rubber band or clip.

  • Boys Attire: White short sleeve T-shirt, black pants, black leather ballet shoes

 

Petite Combo Classes (ages 5-6): 

This class is designed for our younger students who are getting ready to get exposure to multiple genres of stylized dance skills. This class will have a combination of Ballet, Jazz, and Tap within the 1.5 hour class. Exposing these dancers to multiple genres help prepare them to for a variety of other skills to come and gives them the freedom to try multiple genres in 1 given class. 

  • Girls Attire: Solid colored leotard, pink tights, pink leather ballet shoes. Short dance skirts/tutus are optional. Hair should be secured away from face with rubber band or clip. Tap shoes are required for the tap portion of class.

  • Boys Attire: White short sleeve T-shirt, black pants, black leather ballet shoes. Tap shoes are required for the tap portion on class.

Ballet Classes (ages 7-18): 

Students are encouraged to study ballet first and/or along with other forms of dance, as it is the foundation to all dance. A highly technical form of dance with a French based vocabulary, ballet focuses on proper training, body placement and discipline, grace and poise.              

  • Girls Attire: Any style leotard, and  pink tights. Split sole pink leather ballet slippers with elastic straps. All hair must be pulled back. Short-Medium length hair should be secured into a ponytail and long hair pulled into a bun. Students who do not have hair done appropriately will be excused from class.

  • Boys Attire: White short sleeve T-Shirt, black pants, black leather ballet shoes

 

Jazz Classes (ages 7-18)

This is a fun up-beat class where students learn stylized jazz steps and technique that are true to the most popular forms out there. This class will focus mainly on dance combos with leaps and turns, work on facials and performance, and class is set to energetic music or show tunes.

  • Girls Attire- Any solid color Leotard or form fitting dance top with  boy cut dance shorts or long yoga pants. Gauchos, sweats, baggy pants or jeans are NOT allowed.Black leather split-sole, slip on style jazz shoes (no laces) are required. Hair must be secured off of face into a ponytail.  Students who do not have hair done appropriately will be excused from class.

  • Boys: Athletic clothing, shirt with shorts or pants.

 

Lyrical/Contemporary (ages 7-18): 

Multiple genres are explored in this class, or a fusion of ballet and jazz for an expressive form of dance where the emotional story within the song is told. Isolation of movement and control are also taught, along with some turns and leaps.

  • Girls Attire -  Form fitted shirt or solid leotard with boy cut dance shorts. Footless tights may be worn under shorts  as an option. Lower body should not be hidden under jazz pants or baggy sweats to help teacher evaluate proper alignment and technique. Dance paws/foot thongs or bare feet are required for class. Hair must be secured off of face into a ponytail.  Students who do not have hair done appropriately will be excused from class

  • Boys Attire: Athletic clothing, shirt with shorts or pants.

 
Tap (ages 7-18): 

Tap is an exciting form of dance in which dancers wear special shoes equipped with metal taps. Tap dancers use their feet like drums to create rhythmic patterns and timely beats.

  • Girls Attire - Solid colored leotard or form fitting top, with yoga  pants/leggings or dance shorts (NO baggy pants or jeans are allowed). Black leather tap shoes worn with tights or thin socks. Hair must be secured off of face into a ponytail or bun. Students who do not have hair done appropriately will be excused from class.

  • Boys Attire: Athletic clothing, shirt with shorts or pants.

 
Hip Hop (ages 5-18): 

A class that teaches a very popular version of street dancing featured in music videos and by their favorite performers.  This genre teaches endurance, power and coordination with the most current popular music.

  • Girls Attire - Athletic wear that allows freedom of movement (sweats, basketball shorts) No tight shorts please. Short sleeved shirts or loose tops/hoodies are recommended. clean, non-marking athletic shoes. NO UGG-style boots of any kind! Hair can we worn in any style other than completely down.

  • Boys Attire:  Athletic clothing with clean non-marking athletic shoes.

Conditioning for Dancers: 

This class is designed to help condition the body to achieve more technical aspects of dance. Dancers will work specific muscles and learn to engage different body positions to support balance and control with dance moves. Working on flexibility, stamina, and muscle tone to better prepare for the more challenging dance genres. 

  • Girls Attire -  Form fitted shirt or solid leotard with boy cut dance shorts. Footless tights may be worn under shorts  as an option. Lower body should not be hidden under jazz pants or baggy sweats to help teacher evaluate proper alignment and technique. Dance paws/foot thongs or bare feet are required for class. Hair must be secured off of face into a ponytail.  Students who do not have hair done appropriately will be excused from class

Turns and Leaps: 

This class will focus specifically on the different turns and leaps that occur in all genres of dance. We will start with basic forms and then elevate to more challenging and complex tricks that will challenge their abilities while working in flexibility and control in the air, as well as balance and core strength. 

  • Girls Attire -  Form fitted shirt or solid leotard with boy cut dance shorts. Footless tights may be worn under shorts  as an option. Lower body should not be hidden under jazz pants or baggy sweats to help teacher evaluate proper alignment and technique. Dance paws/foot thongs or bare feet are required for class. Hair must be secured off of face into a ponytail.  Students who do not have hair done appropriately will be excused from class

Acrobatics (Acro): 

This class is acrobatics for dancers. Mainly focusing on floor work, without the use of bars, balance beams, or trampolines. This is to aid in a dancers well rounded training and help with the back strength and flexibility that comes along with gymnastics floor work. We will start with basic forms and then elevate to more challenging and complex tricks that will challenge their abilities while working in flexibility and control in the air, as well as balance and core strength. 

  • Girls Attire -  Form fitted shirt or solid leotard with boy cut dance shorts. Footless tights may be worn under shorts  as an option.
